Newf. #1 is brown violet, #15A is violet brown. The first stamp's image is slightly taller than the second. The first stamp is also thicker paper. I am thinking that the first stamp is the #1, though isn't it actually more violet than brown?

1 1d brownish claret (22 x 22.5 mm)
15a 1d violet brown (21.75 x 21.75 mm)
