Among other unhappy elements of our now common ink jet cancelling is the loss of such beautiful philatelic / social / historic elements as flag cancellations. <sigh>

Beautiful cancels! And yes, I agree that machine cancels really suck, a recent postcard I sent had an ugly machine cancel running ---straight across the face--- of the picture on the front of the card...grrrrr....
