I'm not sure exacly what this is, as I cannot find any 3d coils listed in Scott. I know that in other countries before coil stamps were explicitly manufactured with parallel unperforated sides, coil rolls were put together by hand from fully perforated sheet stamps. Is that what this is?

I don't know if it is a "complete" roll or a partial roll that someone affixed down the end stamp to "re-seal" it, but I want to leave it intact.

Does it have any value?

Thanks in advance.

Interesting. I assume that the roll is continuous and that there are paste-up joints? Can you tell?

I wouldn't be able to tell without opening/disassembling it.

I think your answer is within this exhibit and it confirms that these stamps were issued as non-perforated coils.

Thanks! If I'm reading that correctly, what I have is a partial roll of the e watermark pastup coils.

So would you be able to tell them apart from sheet stamps since they are perforated on all sides?

If I understand it these are collected with leaders, as pasteup pairs or intact coils such as Dan has. Otherwise, you would have no way of telling them from regular issues. The exhibit link is pretty informative.

The rolls tend to be made up (3d only exist as past-up rolls) from cut strips. The perforation tips tend to be straight and the perforations can be short or long, depending on the cut. Hibernian only lists one roll of the 3d with horizontal delivery. It is the typo, wmk. e, that had control letter Z. It is a 480-stamp roll at a cost of £ 6, the leader is catalogued as Hib. nr, DL38. There may have been a coil leader that showed a price of £6.0.4. The coil joins (Hib. DJ20) are catalogued at € 10. There should be one after every 12th stamp.

The coil end (Hib. DE20) catalogues at € 60.
