It has been such a busy few weeks for me - missing my free time to spend on my stamps. I have taken some time to do a little work on pages for Hong Kong. The stamps of Hong Kong are exciting, stunning and interesting to me. Working on these stamps has also taught me quite a bit of the history. Pages look bare - but has been some work for me.

Nora,
If you look under the loupe, left and right ears of George V1
there are also two Bats.

Very nice pages. I think Hong Kong issued some very beautiful permanent series.

Hello all. Working on my Hong Kong Pages - specifically QEII and watermarks. I just want to double check- is this scott 284 , st. Edwards crown and CA multiples? Thank you for your help.

Follow-up: of the first two - I can see that the first stamp is scott 285 with sideways watermark. The second $2 stamps. How do I distinguish if that one is scott #285a or #324? Thanks all.

Nora,

You might help those of us who do not have Scott - that are many Commonwealth collectors - by giving some further details on what Scott lists under those two numbers you mention.

The two stamps are sideways watermark (multiple block CA) on the left and upright watermark on the right.

If I am not mistaken, that makes them Scott 285 and a variety that might not be listed by Scott.

You might find your stamp on the left is a photogravure stamp (1973) and that on the right is a lithography stamp (1982).

I think Scott 324 (1976) has no watermark and is another photogravure stamp (small pointy droplets, especially visible on the edges of the printed area).

Scott 324 is from the 1976-81 series multi crown CA and not watermarked. In this Scott group (320-323) the 60c to 90c are watermarked.

What is Scott 285a? Is that upright watermark (and lithography)?

Thank you Gents. Good point NSK- regarding scott. Here is how it is laid out in my Catalog:

Looks like I need to read up on printing differences to distinguish. Your help is always appreciated.
