Hi everybody!

How do you organize your stamps? What was the reason you chose this type of organization?

I am mainly collecting Romanian stamps but I have also stamps from other countries.

I have the most part of my Romanian stamps in Visir albums following Michel 2020. It is easier to move pages and the pages have different size pockets, that means the big stamps are better protected.

Recently I have bought some Leuchtturm Logik boxes C6 for organizing my stamps from different countries, France (until 1900) being in a separate box following Yvert Telier 2022 catalog, one card for every YT entry.

The old letters are in a Lindner album that have transparent pages and I can see my letters on both sides without taking them out from the album.

I bought Philatelix program that is very resourceful for the French stamps but it will take some time till I start to properly use it for registering my stamps.

What about you? Some ideas for improving my stamps organization system?

I use Lighthouse pre-printed pages and binder for the countries I collect (USA, several European nations), with the exception of British Commonwealth, which are organized by country and SG number in stockbooks until I get around to buying the SG Monarch albums. Other misc. stamps are grouped and labeled by country and ordered by year.

Using a stock-card for each French issue seems quite extravagant! I don't use any programmes. My French stamps are in standard albums and, if I decide to track them, it's via a tick in the Yvert catalogue.

I use Vario binders with slip cases. My one regret is using Vario pages instead of Hagner pages.

Do tell, why the regret? The meta on this forum seems to be "pro-Vario anti-Hagner."

The moulded pages used by Lighthouse (Grande, Vario et al) and others are quite difficult to manipulate, and the sections can break. Hagners are easier to work with, although the sections can be fairly detached from the backing card. No definitive answer.

This works for me. (Worldwide collector)
2 long cardboard boxes (2.5 feet long?) from the Supermarket, that fit a standard Post envelope
One marked "To Scan"
One marked "To Album"

Each box has an envelope, with every country in the world.

If say I get a package from Dianne, it may have say 20 countries
all mixed.
I simply sort and place in the envelopes "To Scan"
(mint placed in clean glassines)
(Souvenir sheets in Hagners)

When dealing with any country on the day, just pull out the
the envelope, use whatever stamps are needed, rest plopped into a "Free swaps" box

For those with deeper pockets, Vario-Plus sheets are much stiffer and heavier. Too bad they don't offer one sided sheets...

My big gripe is work ability. Hagner sheets allow you to fold the row protector further for easier access and extraction. I'm trying to scan all my stamps so I'm constantly removing and even adding. Vario pages make it possible to damage stamps and I pointy tongs

Vario pages are cheaper for a reason. I've thought about slowly making the conversion but figured the money would be better off spent on new material. The light house binders and slip cases are decent and I have no issues with them.
