I recently picked up this pretty nice strip of 3 - R68a's. Was listed as Ex-Turner.

Then I saw this on the back. Not in the description and no image of the back. Can't honestly say I ever give much attention to the backs of Revenue stamps, can't see silk threads in most scans anyways.

Not sure how I feel about the writing. I feel it should have been mentioned?

It could have been, but it is not all that uncommon on classic era stamps and covers of a certain value level. As long as it does not show on the face it should have no detrimental effect on value. It would not be mentioned if it went in for a cert as long as that was the case.

I might be a bit more concerned about the ink bleed through area, to make sure that the pen did not break the paper at that point. I am assuming that the horizontal line is from the mount, and is not a crease in the stamps.

Also the possibility of acid erosion pinhole from the ink.

Regarding the pencil writing, it doesn't bother me on used stamps, only mint. I personally would not expect it to be mentioned unless in ink or excessively heavy. A delicate touch with a soft eraser will clear those right up.
