I do not know, but the stamp was first issued in July of 1863 and was being sold until 1869. It could very well be from after then as well as people did not always use up all of the stamps they had on hand. I would guess that there must be specialist references on Ohio postmarks that might be able to nail down the years that particular postmark device was in use in Salem.

Would not the cork canceller be an excellent source to date the cover?
A pristine cork canceller would last how long before being remade?

eg: this was 1863

Been awhile but got back to my stamps. Hoping to see find out best way to tell if this has an f grill while on cover. Its appears there is no grill or grill marks. It does have the star/mole and dots in scroll which indicates die III and it either has f grill or if not is a re issue. I appreciate any thoughts, thank you.
