Hi
Am looking for help identifying some French stamps.
They are a set of 5 and are printed as "La Legion des Volontaires Francais Contre le Bolchevisme"
Seem to be overprinted with F +1f on each.
Can anyone let me know what the year of issue is and where I can find them in the Scott catalogue.

Can't figure out how to up load a photo but if you send me your email address I will email a photo as an attachment.
Thanks,
Steve

They won't be found in the Scott catalog. I believe the Michel specialized catalog for Germany does list them.

bushido,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ

I've got several mint sets of these 'French volunteer' stamps, and the accompanying air-mail issues. They appear to have been first issued on the 20th of April 1942. I've yet to come across any of these which have actually been used as a postage stamp? Nice stamps though!

Issued in support of French fascists who volunteered to fight on the Eastern front. Yvert prices all of them as used, but I haven't seen copies.

As I said lovely stamps. My understanding is that the vast majority of the polar bear stamps are modern reproductions? Originals are massively expensive. I was tempted to slide a reproduction into my - ours - album but I resisted it. It is a gorgeous stamp though and I will find an original one day. I also collect early Maldives stamp, and I was pleasantly rewarded recently when I brought an album online from modern day Sri Lanka and found an imprint for the Maldives on the back page which is quite valuable. That is the beauty of this obsession, you never know what is coming around the corner.

I think this is a very good example. The French Volunteers stamp has been franked, but by the German 'feldpost'.
