What kind of guidance, exactly? I will offer that at first glance, your use of the word "portfolio" is overly grand, if you chose that word to indicate rarity or value.

I'm hoping for resolution on the water markings to start. Can't find them on line or in the book I searched. I want to start a portfolio with the stamps I feel necessary to save. Thank you for the response.

That's the sort of thing you should put in the original post.

"Resolution" of what watermark issue or controversy? What book did you use? American stamp issues are some of the most-studied and well-researched in all of philately. You should be able to find the answer(s) pretty quickly.

PaperClipper315,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ
