Hello, friends!
Can this seal of Gebr. Senf. Leipzig be fake?
And I am also interested what was it used for?
Does it mean that this stamp was expertized by Senf Brothers?
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunate that the stamp is unclear. That being said it does appear to be the mark of Senf who expertise many stamps especially in the 19th century. Senf used at least three types of stamps of which this is the first. His marks have been forged but not often. He also did apply his stamps that were not genuine so you must always proceed with caution.

Richard Senf and Louis Senf

Senf Brothers, Gebrüder Senf, or Gebrueder Senf

Gebrüder Senf (Senf Brothers – Richard and Louis) were stamp dealers and philatelic publishers, in business separately since 1872 but together during 1880-1890. Richard was sole proprietor during 1890-1910. Others continued the firm until 1953.

Their full names:

Emil Louis Richard Senf 1855-1941 known as Richard

Wilhelm August Louis Senf 1852-1940 known as Louis

Couldn't say if the backstop is genuine or not. But show us the front of the stamp and maybe we can help.

Ok, Thanks for the info.
What do you think about this copy? Is it also a forgery?
