Does this qualify as a FLAW or just a one-off abnormailty? Scanned with 600dpi and spotted the difference of this ßOSTAGE on the top right of the JOHN ASH IMPRINT BLOCK.

The imprint block you are showing is listed in my 2015 ACSC as 211 za, Ash imprint left corner block of 4 with extra hole perf. It is not further listed with any known variety, so I am guessing that this is a one-off, probably a small bit of fiber that touched down during the printing process.

If you were lucky, the same block has two different options: with Variety f, or with variety e and fa. I actually have the one with variety e, but that fa variety is very, very hard to see.

Note: Ignore the typographical error. It says 221e, but this is actually 211e.

Hi ninhao

Not all varieties are listed, such as this variety. There is no evidence that it may have been caused by a cracked plate or any plate repairing (re-entry). I would have to agree with Partime with the possible cause of this very interesting variety.

Thank you both Partime and Rob041256 for your comments and the attached catalogue references. It is indeed valuable and informative.

I attached here the 'BLACK PRINT' version of the ßOSTAGE variety for a better observation.

Also attached are another of the JOHN ASH IMPRINT BLOCK ACSC 211za with the extra hole perf. I will look closely to examine if I am one of the lucky one to spot the 'f', 'e' and 'fa' varities. Thanks again for both your comments and your time in sharing the informtion.

[BLACK PRINT]

I bought the BW (Brusden White) KGV Australian Commonwealth Specialist Catologue Edition 2001 years ago. Probably about time to buy another later version in the near future.
