I have been collecting stamps for over 60 years mostly plate blocks from the 1940's till the time that stamps went self adhesive. I understand that stamp collecting has declined over the years. I also collect currency, especially fractional notes and coins.

I was given a large collection of revenue stamps from my godfather over 30 years ago. I am now trying to educate myself with this unique area for collection. I don't know how active this forum is but any help with revenue stamps would be welcome. Once I get my feet wet, I probably would like to sell this collection if any one is interested. Are there collectors on this forum for revenue stamps?

Thanks for any advice/help that you can provide.

Hi, and welcome.

Yes, there are many collectors and dealers on this board that specialize in revenue stamps.

If you post some scans of what you have, we would be glad to help in identification, value, and so on.

dtreter,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ

Welcome!

You have definitely come to the best forum for Revenues. We have several members who are very knowledgeable in that area.

Start by browsing and reading the "Back of Book" sections of SCF -- either United States or Worldwide, depending on your collections. The search button at the top of every page is an easy way to check for specific item.

Above all, post your questions. It takes most new members a post or two to get the hang of posting images, but there is a tutorial and a testing area if you need it.

I can tell you from my own experience, SCF is a friendly bunch of people and we look forward to learning more about your collection.

KirkS

I listed my information on web site on fractional stamp notes in my original post. It was edited and I apoligize for the problem and it was corrected in my original post. My web site was only mentioned for my area of collecting...items were not for sale but just for information about these curious and special notes.
