These may not be the best pictures, I'm curious about the color paper on the pair. It is definitely a bluish paper.




The paper is a very consistent color. The color of the design is also darker, probably due to the paper.

Scott does not list any variety for this stamp.

Hi:You might try checking the paper mesh types .also they existed in booklets

Might the pair have taken on the color of the envelope they were soaked from?

I would suggest they are examples of the shades listed by Campbell Paterson. No mention made of distinct paper types.

The single appears to be scarlet [CP MM2a(1)]

The pair appears to be rose-red [CP MM2a(2)]

Both are equally common.
