Not merely confirming that the plate scratch was persistent, but interesting also in that what I believed to be ink dots, i.e., a printing anomaly, are also persistent. Plate erosion?

Interesting additionally in that the left stamp shows an additional plate scratch at upper right that is not present in the right stamp. So either the left stamp was printed later or it's not a plate scratch but some other anomaly... looks like a plate scratch to me though.

Yes, plate scratch. I've got many Newfoundland stamps with the same issue, including multiple copies of each. Some even have progressive scratches. I don't think any added value, but nice.

They do confirm the same plate position. They also have the same mark in the "U", same mark in the "O" of Two, and probably other confirming marks.
