so this stamp had a bunch of guck on the back and I soaked it. So what was partially covered by a big 'ole hinge is now exposed. Picture 2 is the best representative. So was part of the back pulled off? Is the stamp on thin paper? Seems like a big "thin" showing?? Is part of the cover still on the back? Tks for looking.

The stamp looks as if someone tried to peel it of the cover. Part of the stamp stayed behind. Too bad that some folks just do not have the foggiest idea!

All is not lost !
It bears the Postmark of Accra Barred 554 3-1-1-3 which I believe is quite scarce.
Requires confirmation.

Hi Rod - so do mean "VOS", as in what it stands for ? Or the fact thats its a 3 lets say and not 4?? Or both...

Not being funny, but I happen to have just downloaded a bunch of info on cancels when looking at that Penny Reds and I know about nothing on the info yet - as what to look for.

Indicates the style of the cancel.

A quick reference from one of the numeral cancel documents of the the GB Philatelic Society, explaining some of the codes used.

So I'll look at the front of doc. after dinner. It is the type of cancel , 3 I think being the number of lines from top to numerals.
