I purchased a stamp book and this stamp was there. I'm having trouble finding the Scott number or date for perforations. Help place.

I JUST FOUND IN SAME BOOK THESE STAMPS. WITH A NOTE. THE SINGLE IS A SCOTT 594 BUT ITS PRETTY DAMEFED, WOULD IT BE WORTH ANYTHING? ALSO NEXT TO IT , A HORIZONTAL PAIR WITH A NOTE SAYING THIS IS THE PAIR THAT CAUSED THE 594. IT DID NOT GIVE A SCOTT NUMBER. ALL ARE PERFORATIONS 11 AND ALL MEASURES 19 3/4 X 22 1/4. WOULDN'T THE PAIR JUST BE TWO SCOTT 594. IF I SEND TO CERTIFY, WOULD THEY EVEN GRADE THEM BECAUSE OF CONDITION? |

My question is after doing all that , and I still believe it is what I said. Are the stamps worth anything in the condition they are now? Would they even get certified or graded? |

Your Franklin stamps are booklet stamps and therefore cannot be in any way, shape or from 594. No way, no how. Ever.
But if you are determined to burn some cash without using a match and gasoline then send them in for an opinion.
Good luck with that. |

You should heed the advice given earlier. Scott 594 was never issued in booklet format and your stamps are from a booklet pane. And, as rogdcam indicated, booklet stamps of that era had slightly different dimensions due to shrinkage while drying. Stamps printed on booklet paper & sheet paper had the paper grain in different directions ... one was vertical, the other horizontal. Shrinkage across the grain was about 4 times as much as shrinkage with the grain ... hence the different dimensions. Added: Oops, my bad. It was Don, not Rog who mentioned the dimension difference for booklet stamps vs. sheet stamps. As rogdcam suggested, if you wish to waste some money, by all means submit them for authentication. Just be aware that there is ZERO chance of them being 594. Not a small chance ... a zero chance. I would recommend that you instead buy some lottery tickets. While your chances would still be almost zero, they would in fact not actually be zero. |

Maybe I'm asking the wrong way. I get it, there is a good chance they are not. If I decide to go that route , I will just burn money. Now that's behind . My question still is.. If by a miracle, he'll mary and he'll froze over and they happen to be. Would anyone want to buy them with the kind of damage they have ? |

You are not a hoarder. You are an accumulator. Hoarders do not sell. |
