Germany 1945-1946 AMG Issues. Query: Would the selvedge, adhered to this "favour cancelled" cover, be any clue, as to whether it would be the Brunswick printing, or the Washington Printing? Or is the paper thickness the only avenue to ID? Thanks. Update: I have found part selvedge on 15 pf (no gum) thick paper, so it was def on the Washington printing. |

Rod, This is a little outside my area of expertise, but I believe the AMG stamps are Washington printings. Here's Michel's guide to differentiating them, with circles added (click to enlarge). American on left, German on right: |

Rod,
If you'll shoot me your mailing address, I have some AMG stamps that I don't need since I don't collect post-1945. Can't guarantee great quality, but they'll fill a couple spaces.

Thank you Postmaster, you are too generous.
Apologies for tardy reply, was digging a trench for a limestone wall yesterday. Have aches in places I never knew existed.

Unknown. Curiosity. This looks like a faux cancellation. Postal Stationery, Berlin "Printed on" part postmark (looks faux) Writing on the back under the loupe looks like it is printed, rather than hand written. Any ideas? Unknown. Revenue. Cancelled 25th June 1897 Stempelmarke Preussen 10 pfennig Red. What does the "FR" on the Eagles breast, refer to? |

Thank you Postmaster. Tomm Quote: the first "Preussen" king Friedrich I. I am curious, so the Arms remain the same, even when the Monarchy changes ? or would this refer to Frederick lll the time of the stamp? |
