I dont know anything about these cancels but am curious if anyone can ID the middle stamp Maltese Cancel - town, type, etc. ? It was shown in a video presentation of a lot in the last Harmers International Auction and im unable to get a better screen shot from the clip online. I ended up winning the lot, but when I got the stock book, this stamp was missing so I cant provide a better scan / shot. Here is the video if interested: https://vimeo.com/702837344its at minute mark 13:26 out of 16:46 Sorry, o forgot to add the pic I have!! Tks Wm

ive been looking at some reference material I have, but none includes Crosses. Tks.
Im guessing its not worth waiting for an answer form the auction house as to the location of the stamp? Does it look like a "7" on it? |

My best guess would be London.
See the first London image on p43 of the QV specialised catalogue. |

I have the 16th edition. If you have the 2020 edition, look for the page with the Maltese Cross illustrations |

I did look before replying, but seeing as the pages I mention fall under the Mulready and Letter Sheet section, I thought I confirm the catalog edition as to make sure I was looking where you wanted me see. There are more on 155 and 157 and 100 and 101. Perhaps page 101 ? |

The picture is not clear enough (too small). What makes you think it is a distinct Maltese Cross?
I see similarities to both the London and Brighton MCs. The rather compressed diamond that appears rather off centre would favour the latter. But I am not convinced it is either as the curves of he ends of the arms of the cross would favour London and not Brighton. |

So in addition to forgetting to post a picture in the original opening, somehow I botched the editing too... i.e., I dont think its anything special - but I also dont know - just asking. I dont know anything about these. But, I also dont have the stamp as it was not present when I received the stock book from Harmers. It was in the online lot presentation, but not in what I received. So I in addition to asking if anyone could ID it, was also trying to determine if its worth worrying about. Guessing not - its 1 stamp missing out of 100's. |

What I originally thought might be a "7" overprint looks now to be the 11 o'clock outer line ending towards the inside on another blemish??? Anyhow, I think time to move on. As previously mentioned by just-fella, Brighton looks good so does London. |

Opinion: That's a LONDON Type 1 Maltese.
The Outer Cross and Inner Cross are similar to the Brighton but it lacks the "unusual squared centre" of the Brighton. (Goldsmith / Danzig)
