The engraving on the R letter is not the same. On Yvert & Tellier catalog, this stamp has been redrawn and is quite rare. |

Quote: The engraving on the R letter is not the same. Not the same as what? Please. Print run: 3,297,000 Varieties: 421A: dark blue, 421B: blue-green Both stamps are distinguished from N° 421 by their colors, but also substantial differences in the engraving. Features of the landscape in the background more acute, acute-angled right eyebrow, the checkered jacket-less distinct and hatch in the letter R. |

I think you need much better, detailed scans to determine whether your stamp is Type II. |

No closeup necessary. Your stamps are both regular 421's. Just go to Delcampe if you want good images of 421A and B. They are unmistakably different. |

Very nice, but what is the ( official ) difference between the three types? This is for those of us not familiar with the Yvert catalog?

Peter, from what I see, is the cross hatching of Paul's coat, is decidedly large on the Type 1, and the "F" is broken in the "FR" in the the Type 1 Satisfies my curiosity.

In addition, the shading of the hills and forehead have been strengthened and the ornamentation around the name Cezanne is drastically different, but the key giveaway is that the eyebrow is sharply arched in the Type II. "Ouvre" is also smaller. |

Also, the lines inside the R of RF are different directions between type I and type II (vertical vs horizontal). You can see that in the picture above.
