I have a number of opened and unopened packs of Scotts stamp mounts and wish to move them to a closet. The problem is that the back of the closet is an outside wall and being in South Texas, it can get fairly warm.
So the obvious question is ....are there temp limitations on the the mounts for safe storage?
Any temperature limit should be extreme and beyond what will occur in your closet. For example, holding a stack of mounts at a physical temperature of 120 F or higher for hours may well soften the adhesive and cause bonding. But I doubt your closet ever would reach that.
Two data points. In California, over a five-year period, I kept packs of mounts in a plastic Rubbermaid storage box with a latched top, in a garage that was finished but didn't have HVAC. Summer interior temperatures would be up to 86 degrees on repeated days; there were no problems with the mounts. Now, in Austin, I just ordered new mounts from Global Stamps, which were delivered to a community mail box. They sat there for three days with ambient air temperature of 100 to 105 on all three days. No problems.
Consider keeping them in a plastic bin with a tight cover in the closet. The air within the bin acts as an insulation layer and the temperature inside the bin should stay well within limits for the mounts.
I've never had any problem with mounts regardless of the temperature. If you can survive it, they can too. Humidity might be an issue but not temperature.
