Yes. Letter airmail was (again) 8 cents per ounce from March 26, 1944 through September 30, 1946.

I thought I smelled a Prexie collector.

If you are going to be playing with Prexies you need both of the Tony Wawrukiewicz and Henry Beecher rate books:


U.S. Domestic Postal Rates, 1872-1999 (That's the 3rd Edition) Sold by the APS

and

U.S. International Postal Rates, 1872-1996 (now just aftermarket I believe)

The good news is the 3rd Edition of the domestic rate book has a great section on international rates. Tony chose to add the information there rather than doing a 2nd edition of the international book.

I would suggest you buy the domestic 3rd edition before you buy The Prexies by Roland E. Rustad (1994) which is the prexie bible and root cause of the entire Prexie solo madness. But these three are the first a Prexie collector needs especially for collectors with questions such as yours.
