Is anyone here using both A4 and A5 album pages?
I've got back into collecting as an adult and I have decided to collect topically.

I've enjoyed making several album pages using Album Easy for specific series'. Some of these series fit nicely on an A5 page and it feels like a waste to use A4.

I was thinking a ring binder per theme, ordered by issue date with A4 pages in full-size pockets and A5 in split pockets as linked below:

But this does present its own issue of waste, if I have only one A5 page in a double pocket and then my next issues series is on A4

Well hinges are cheaper than mounted and pockets protect the whole page as well as the stamps, making looking through the album easier.

Is it common to use hinges without pockets?

Indeed it is. The only time you really need something on top of a page of hinged stamps is when you have another page directly opposite, when the stamps can mate with one another. In those cases, you need glassine interleaving.
