From the movie Little Shop of Horrors, 1966

Mr, Mushnick (flower shop owner): Well you would like, maybe, as usual some flowers for the funeral?

Mrs, Shiva (customer): I thought possibly because I always give you my funeral business and maybe you should possibly give me, eh, a little cut today,.

Mr, Mushnick: Look on me Mrs. Shiva, What am I? A Philatelist? I sell on Skid row nothing but cheap carnations.

Script from TV show "Castle" Season 2, Episode 21

BECKETT: Thank you for coming in,
Mr. Cana.

Call me Fred.

DEMMING: And obviously
we're going to do everything we can

to help you recover
your stolen property.

What exactly was in the box?

Stamps.

- Stamps?
- Yeah, I collect them.

It kind of surprises me
it took you so long to reach out to us.

The folks at the bank said
they left you a half a dozen messages

over the last couple of days.

Well, I been busy, you know?

I been working a lot.

And what is it that you do?

I'm in private security.

This stamp collection,
how much was it worth exactly?

It's hard to put a price tag
on an item like that

because of, you know,
the sentimental value.

And who else knew
that you were keeping it at the bank?

Just a select group
of other stamp enthusiasts

with whom I formed relationships
over the years.

So how long you been
a philatelist, Fred?

Hey, watch your mouth, pal.
Fred Cana don't go that route.

Philately is the study of stamps,
Mr. Cana,

which you would know if you were,
in fact, a collector.

There's a mention of stamp collectors in Shawshank Redemption.

Not a movie, but there's also 'The Stamp Of Death' - Streets Of San Francisco Season 2 Episode 6.

A few years ago the TV show Fargo's entire season revolved around a "rare" stamp that one brother inherited, and the other brother wanted.

The film Charade w/ Cary Grant & Audrey Hepburn involved WWII loot converted into rare French stamps.

The Hitman, JP Keller, is a stamp collector. The author of the Hitman series, Lawrence Block, used to write for Linn's.

Also, "Mauritius", a play about the Blue Mauritius stamps, ran on Broadway back in 2007. Possibly a riff on American Buffalo, by David Mamet, that was on Broadway in the 70's and later a film with Dustin Hoffman.

On TV reruns are nice and common. On the SCF it happens too.

Here is a long running thread on movies containing stamp collecting angles: https://goscf.com/t/458&whichpage=9 Stamps In The Movies!
