I'm new to this stamp collecting world and I'm helping a friend try to locate an image of a stamp for some research. According to the documentation we have, we're looking for a Turkish stamp (Sc#547) with a Syrian overprint in addition to the Arabic overprint. Looking in the Scott books, I believe the stamp to be an issue of the Arabian Government within Syria (Sc#67) and because the numbering system starts over at #1 in this particular section of Syrian stamps, it has made it practically impossible to locate an image as I have searched google, ebay, hipstamp, stampworld, one other site that cannot be named (per rules and regs) and literally can't find anything apart from #547!

I'm also looking to find images of just the overprint examples themselves. Is there a website or some other research I can do to locate images of the overprints/surcharges in black/white and NOT on a stamp?

For those of us who don't use Scott catalogues, could you describe the Ottoman and Syrian stamps (date, denomination etc), please?

From what I can find on the website that should not be mentioned here, the Turkey SC 547 is a blue 5 piastre artillery stamp in blue, issued 1917.

Mi 627, SG 914, YT 570

You can see the fronts and backs of all of the stamps, so there's no problem in this case.

I can't figure out how to reply to you directly, but the referenced stamp in the 4th row on the first image is EXACTLY what I'm looking for!!! Thank you so much for locating it. I have literally scoured the internet using all kinds of different keyword arrangements that I could think of and kept turning up empty handed.

As far as my other inquiry, do you know where images for overprints can be located, say like a "history of..." or something to that effect? The friend and I were looking at the Scott books and comparing them to another stamp product and debating over whether they are different stamps or if they were potentially hand-drawn or traced on the older book we were looking at. In a silly, competitive way I want to prove to him that there are only slight differences in some of the Arabic overprints, like face value and certain curvatures of some of the writing.

That's OK. There are a number of specialist books about Middle Eastern stamps, but I don't have them. I only have access to the images of overprints that you'll have found in Scott. Perhaps others can advise..

I've been rather busy with all this research and I've come to my last roadblock in the process. I'm looking for one more stamp!

This is an Armenian surcharge on a Russian stamp. According to the Scott catalogs, these are numbered 295-299 but were never officially issued. The numbers of the Russian stamps the surcharge is applied to are 45 and 69-72. I conducted a google lens/image search for this surcharge with no results. I have searched everywhere between blogs, stamp sites, and more and only came across this from a stamp album page. Any help will be appreciated!
