Being a frequent critic of
ebay I feel that it is only fair to share the positive as well.
A year or so ago I purchased a Russian stamp for around $500 from a major seller of Russian material on
ebay. It was described as MNH. Fast forward to this past month when I consign the stamp along with others to a brick-and-mortar auction house to be sold in an upcoming auction. The owner/describer finds the stamp to be expertly regummed. I contact the
ebay seller and politely expressed my disappointment in what had happened. To my delight the seller offers to reach out to the auction house and ascertain what prompted them to make their determination and to take the stamp back and refund my money. Unfortunately, the stamp is already lotted along with others in a group and is in the catalog. The
ebay seller informs me of this and offers to refund me half of the purchase price. Given the value of the stamp and what it should fetch in the auction the offer will make me whole.
This is not only a seller of integrity it is above and beyond some of my experiences with traditional dealers and auctioneers.
The
ebay seller is Anton, and his username is agstamps and I highly recommend this person to anyone looking for honesty and integrity.
PS: I had already left positive feedback and so that had no influence on how the seller reacted.
