This is a rather inhospitable part of the world (but very beautiful in its own way), so I wasn't surprised that the subject of the article was an indigenous man.
Interesting story. An amazing feat of endurance. He and the other people who carried (literally) the mail, deserve recognition and appreciation for their efforts. It would be a suitable subject for a stamp or two.
The following story about Fowler Bay facing encroachment by drifting sand dunes was also fascinating.
