Recently purchased a Scott 618 with PSE graded cert, XF-Sup-95, NH. It has a very different shade than the one already in my collection. It sure looks like a Lake shade, but Scott does not list that color, no mention on the cert.

Input on the color? Image attached...left is the one I had, right is PSE graded one. The cert is dated 2007.

One would think if it was that color back in 2007 PSE would have called it lake. Unfortunately you can't look at te cert to decide if it is now the same color as when it was certed because the color fidelity on certs leaves something to be desired.

If it were to be submitted to another expertizing org (say, the PF) as a Lake shade stamp, it would be interesting to see their response. With all the caveats of color accuracy on monitors, it looks 'lakish' to these eyes, on this monitor.

It does appear to be Lakish but I also notice a "wash" over the entire stamp. Not sure what that means.

To the naked eye, the color really pops on the PSE graded one.

Ironically, the centering is nearly identical on the one I already had with same slight offset to the left.

The first problem is that when carmine stamps oxidize, they get darker. The second is that there is such a thing as dark carmine. I suspect that this would come back as an oxidized carmine stamp. The Red Cross stamp cross often looks like lake from that cause.
