after a crease.

Nice increase in size Phil, spot on.
yes a crease.
Very easy to achieve with modern lithography printing
the surface is very fragile,
even mint unhinged have surface lesions, esp spotted
on machins under the scanner.

As we've got a picture of it, may I share a bit of information about it? It is, as far as I am aware, the only stamp ever issued from Holland / The Netherlands that features a giraffe in a prominent manner (there is what I consider an "also-ran" in 2005 in which a giraffe appears in an ancillary fashion). It was issued on 7th November 1967 and is a charitable issue - every year (at least in those days, I'm not sure about now) the Dutch Post Office would issue a charitable issue with a surcharge, with the funds raised going to the Foundation for Childrens' Welfare Postage Stamps, which helps physically, mentally or socially handicapped children.

There were five values in the series, and a strip of ten stamps (in a 2x5 combination) featuring three of the values (three porcupines, four whistling kettles and three giraffes).

Thanks for the info GS,
one wonders how much they raised in that fashion, excellent cause.

Now what is that little boy offering the Giraffe, a sugar cube, diced carrot?

Dangerous to offer a giraffe with food on bare hands. That animal's got big teeth and can easyly chomp off a finger! any young child who sees that pic may think it's ok to give a giraffe some food like a pet dog! OMG!

On the contrary - the giraffe's teeth are towards the back of its mouth, and it eats with its lips and tongue. I spent many a happy hour feeding them horsenuts by hand on holiday in Kenya! They couldn't have bitten my finger off if they'd wanted to!

That's an interesting take! Certainly more interesting than using a wet sponge, albeit a lot of trouble to go through to ensure you're mailings are franked...

Thanks Rod, Yes bit by bit I am being forced to learn..amazing how the image can be so large and yet qualify as under 90 kb..this I have to learn yet...Yes, my wife is from Holland..but I believe it was the "for the children" semi postals that made me want to collect the Netherlands....;
