I predict (new) British stamp collecting will largely collapse. I'm sure I'm not the only one who senses new issues are ridiculously numerous and expensive - verging toward Trucial States proportions with souvenir this, special pack that, sets of 12 with photos of pop stars and so on. I wonder how many are waiting for the cut-off point when the QEII issues cease.
Quote: Having endured the tedium of the Machin design for nigh on sixty years, I hope that the new design will be fundamentally different. There's no reason why a new design should use a profile - the QEII definitive stamps utilising the Wilding photograph and the Annigoni portrait are much more attractive.
I hope King Charles III will take a personal interest in the design of his definitive stamps. With his dislike for modern architecture, and his interest in ecology and nature, perhaps we will return to something more like the Wildings with attractive frames and foliage in the corners. I personally will not be sorry to see the end of the Machin portrait stamps - they were innovative when first issued, but went on far too long...

Like you I expect new issues sales to take a sudden drop, but it won't mean he end to all GB collecting as there are still over 180 years of issues to choose from.
" when the QEII issues cease"
Interesting question. Back when she same to power, commems were few and far between, but now they are frequent and there could already be one or more issues printed with her profile not yet issued. Will they be issued or scrapped and reprinted with his profile?
There will undoubtably be a LOT of money to be made in Elizabeth related philatelic products. The monarchs have already provided enormous fodder for stamp issuers and collectors what with all of the anniversaries/Jubilees, weddings, coronations, births and deaths and whatever else can be imagined. A new catalog will be needed just to deal with what is about to be unleashed upon the hobby. Lengthy sets, endless souvenir sheets, omnibus issues, Prestige packages, look for it all to be unleashed. A great time for the UK/BC collector who has money to burn.
Another thing I'm curious about - as we all know, Great Britain doesn't have the country name written out, but it does (on pictorial stamps) have that little sillhouette of the queen in the corner, which symbolises Great Britain as the issuing state. That presumably needs to go now - to be replaced by... what? A profile of Charles might not be too flattering! Maybe some new device will be thought up, or maybe - just maybe - they will start putting "Great Britain" or more correctly "United Kingdom" on new stamps.
