Hello all. I thought I would share a visual on my progress with plating the 1851 3c. I started down this road about nine months ago and feel like i'm making decent progress. I wanted to share it with you all because you will appreciate it more than my family does. The think i'm crazy for collecting same old stamp with the old dude on it. They are more interested in the stamps that are on the envelopes delivering these old dudes to me. I haven't been acquiring any 10 or 10As so those plates are very sparse. So far all of my 10s have been ones I picked up in lots of 11s. A big thanks to all the folks on these boards that have helped me out so far. It is very much appreciated.

Regards,
Harper1249

Hi Harper --

Very nice work -- and I agree with Dutch -- love those templates!

I completely get what you are saying about your family -- as mine is the exact same way. They just can't understand how a bunch of old guys can sit around studying the microscopic, engraved lines of the same stamp -- let alone spending hours on the phone talking about it -- writing lengthy emails back and forth -- or traveling cross-country to hunt down more of the same.

That said -- as a fellow plater -- I fully understand the thrill when you get to the "aha" moment -- as you nail a plating! And after that, it is back to the thrill of the hunt. Lots of fun and keeps the mind sharp -- plus have made many lifelong friends along the way.

Thanks for sharing your progress to date -- very nice work!!

Regards // ioagoa

Each plate is a spreadsheet. I printed them as pdfs, then stitched them together in photoshop and exported it as a jpeg that would load up on the site. Kind of a pain, but it served its purpose. I'd be happy to email a generic plate t9 whoever is interested.
