Greetings, an acquaintance asked me about some of her father's materials, which included two interesting stamp booklets that appeared for be created around by the Japan Stamp Club of Nagoya (with support from Japan Travel Bureau of Tokyo).

The first covers the (National Parks Series) up until 1940 with presentation pages for the first 8 sets (each 4 stamps). Left page shows B&W images of stamps; right page had spaces for stamps and all but 1 mint stamps remains hinged in the booklet. Rice paper on each page to protect stamps.

Second is "Commemorative stamps issued during the war" (1942 and 1944 dates on front).

Both have lovely covers with simple and serene artwork. Both booklets bound by colored string.

Most of the wording in here is English; some Japanese in the war booklet.

Anyone ever see these before? Any details would be welcome.

Not listed under Booklets Sakura 2010

I'd suggest privately produced by the Japanese Travel Bureau
I have the Tourist Library Monograph, but it ends at 1940.

Thank you. Yes, I am assuming these were privately produced, though it's an unclear relationship between Japan Travel Bureau in Tokyo and the Japan Stamp Club of Nagoya, 350 km away. Hoping someone out here might be able add a little more.

Hello,

In the left page of the last image, the bottom line (erased out with double stroke) begins with "Showa 22, June 26" = June 26, 1947, which strongly suggests the original date of printing this booklet.

According to Web page of Japan Travel Bureau (now JTB Corporation), US-Japan air route by Northwest airway (New York - Anchorage - Tokyo - Manilla) was opened on July 1947, which lead to the reopening of international tourism to Japan. Japan Travel Bureau has been accredited as an IATA travel agent on 1948.

This may suggest that these interesting booklets were prepared by Japan Travel Bureau as a gift or souvenir for their overseas tourist guests - thus everything written in English.

I couldn't find any further information on Japan Stamp Club Ltd. of Nagoya.

As the subsequent letters of that struck-out bottom line are unreadable due to resolution and I appreciate if you can show us a high-res closeup of this line, which may give more clue.
