Thank you very much, Matt, for sharing your list. I thought my list is complete but now I see I missed several stamps. Appreciate if you can share with us stamps from your collection, in this thread or other threads devoted to different animals. I think I posted all Loris stamps in my collection except the one from Germany issued on January 2, 2010 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the museum of natural history in Berlin: |

The aye-aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis), the world's largest nocturnal primate, is a long-fingered lemur, belongs to the Prosimian group, native to Madagascar. It is currently classified as Endangered by the IUCN; and a second species, Daubentonia robusta, appears to have become extinct at some point within the last 1000 years. Aye-aye on stamps issued by Tanzania on July 5, 1995 to commemorate the Sierra Club:
Aye-aye (right), together with Vari (Varecia variegata), banknote of 1000 Ariary / 5000 Francs issued by Madagascar in 2004: Two old pages from an encyclopedia printed in Leipzig in 1896 shows etchings of prosimians like galago, loris, tarsier and lemur. Top right is Aye-aye: Meyers Konversations-Lexikon or Meyers Lexikon was a major encyclopedia in the German language that existed in various editions, and by several titles, from 1839 to 1984, when it merged with the Brockhaus Enzyklopädie. It is edited by Joseph Meyer (1796–1856), who had founded the publishing house Bibliographisches Institut in 1826 |
