As some of you may know, I've come back to stamp collecting. My main interest right now is US Airmail stamps up to World War 2.
Now, I just don't want to do a boring collection of the stamps.
I was thinking about having an album with 32 pages - each page would represent the airmail stamps in sequential order - i.e. C1, C2, C3, etc.
I already have C1-C11, C22 and others. Not sure I'll ever have anything for the Zepps, but that's for another day.
The idea is to put stamp C1 on Page 1 and populate that page with other stuff. It could be newspaper clippings, airmail covers, plate blocks, FDC's, currency from that time, etc. Each page would be a theme page for the time the stamp came out.
My question is: Would one of the "stockbooks" handle this kind of diversity?
Or is this just ScrapBooking and I can ask my sister? Of course, you'll pay scrapbooking prices which will leave your eyes bleeding...
I would start with a stockbook as you are acquiring your item for each page. When you have enough gathered I would make my own page using cardstock of archival acid free quality and start mounting. Each page could be considered an exhibit. I think scrapbooking ideas could be helpful for this type of setup.
When I could not find any Lioghthouse (Leuchturm) pages to complete my Europa Sympathy issues -- as the older ones only come in something like 5 years put together which I do not need, I copied the heading of the pages and using Word I complete the "boxes" and this way I can put post cards, write-ups and info about the stamps. It makes for a nice page. When Phil shows me how to scan this stuff I will post some pages of my Europa stuff and, of course, windmills! Jopie
