Hi all,

I am always happy to enlarge my postage dues collection. There are so many varieties of shades, watermarks and perforations that collecting them is a constant challenge. I still have the problem with not having the ACSC catalogue and so I have to call for help one more time. I recently purchased a one penny stamp perforated 14 with the crown double A watermark. The shade of this stamp is very close to the one of the perforated 11 stamps on thin paper, making it very different from the usual perforated 14 stamps. Is this stamp rarer and then what would be it's SG and ACSC catalogue numbers ?

Thank you again for your help,

Louis

Suzlou, Louis,
you may wish to add "Aust Postage Due" in the thread title
It will attract Frank the specialist in this discipline.

Hi Louis,

The 1/2d perf. 14 in the same shade as the perf. 11 thin paper is SG D79

Bobby,
Caveat: I am a real novice here.

I can find a reference in Brusden White for the Die ll 1d Double A
perforate 14.

But can find no listing?
I am discombobulated !

Any ideas?

I see this as ACSC D97, the Perf 14 single-line, watermark crown over double-lined A, thin paper. D97 is valued in my 2014 ACSC as AUS$35.00 used (if the first color listed below).

Per ACSC, this stamp is available in Rose-Red and Green, Scarlet and Pale Yellow-Green, Carmine and Deep Yellow-Green, and Carmine and Yellow-Green. Good luck with color identification.

Louis,

The printing of the stamps and the perforating were separate processes. The note in ACSC is that when the stamps of this colour were perforated, 5% were perf 14, 95% perf 11.

The 1d is not easy to find, 2020 CV $A325 mint, $40 used. The ½d is $A375 mint and used. The ½d is a far scarcer stamp than the CV would indicate. KJB Stamps on ebay has both shades of the ½d used for $150. This is a fair price.

If you have gaps you want to fill in your dues collection, let me know. I'm happy to help.

John

I did some work on the 4d value of this issue (SG D83, Sc J43a, ACSC (3rd ed, 2020) D101) this weekend. One of the pages I created is attached.

As a result of questions asked from other collectors of this area, I have revised the ERD to 14 March, 1921.
