The USPS has released a new "
Publication 119 - Sources of Historical Information on Post Offices, Postal Employees, Mail Routes, and Mail Contractors". The PDF of this Publication (and others) can be downloaded at USPS at
https://about.usps.com/resources/pu...publications or from the Stamp Smarter Library page at
https://stampsmarter.org/learning/P...lPortal.htmlFrom the Publication 119
Quote:
Historians, postmasters, genealogists, and others who want to learn more about the history of their communities will discover valuable sources of historical information on Post Office™ facilities, postal employees, mail routes, and mail contractors in this publication. This publication lists sources chronologically, then discusses them by subject, and then describes them in alphabetical order. Links to digital copies of sources (if available) are provided in the descriptions. Record locations, further sources of information, and common questions for which there are no comprehensive sources of information are discussed on the final pages.
I am excited to note that Publication 119 contains a large number of links to the
Stamp Smarter Library. Many of these postal history resources have been processed and compiled by Mike Ludeman for the benefit of our hobby and deserves a giant 'thank you' from us all.
