Some nice little items there, tholath.

I agree with George, the SG 109 isn't a double print. Gibbons notes after SG 60 that 'blanket offsets' occur in the litho printings.

Offsets of the ON C G S overprint seem to be more common on the Sixth Raja stamps than any of the others. I wonder if this was due to pressure of work at the printers.

There is an error in the conversion of the ME date on the SG 117 pair. The date couldn't be 1943: that would be 6 years before the stamps were issued! I make the correct conversion to be 6 June 1949.

I picked up this

SG 123a

at the recent Trowbridge sale in London. Far and away my best Cochin item!

I get the Conch and the Parasol in opposing corners,
what items are the other two?
can you identify them?

The Posting reads SG123b
when I save the image it reads SG123a

Rod, you're quite right. It's only the SG 123a. I was trying to promote it, but I've decided to come clean, and I've edited it back down again. (But if you take off your glasses, and squint really hard, it could be SG 123b ...)

I'll leave the significance of the insignia to someone else.

And though they don't. strictly, belong here - but we don't have an Edward VII Cochin thread - two more recent Cochin acquisitions I'd long craved

SG 22d, and

SG 22e

Which just go to show the trouble you can get into when you invert a cliché in the plate.

Thomas, I think there's a thread here for the Australian George V Heads, but otherwise - I don't know. I don't collect Australia, myself.
