Tholath, British India is outside my area of expertise, but there are others here (like Spock) who are interested in it. They might be able to help you.

Now to your Cochin:

Top row: SG 85 (if it's watermarked small umbrella) cat. value £5 or SG 86 (if it has the sheet watermark) £4; SG 94 10p; last two SG 92 (if the small umbrella watermark) £24 or SG 95 (if the sheet watermark) 10p
Second row: SG 88a £1.60; SG 93 £4.25; SG 96a 85p; SG 97 £13
Third row: SG O78 50p; SG 89 £1.25; SG 92a £4; SG 92b £3.25

So there you are: a couple of cheaper ones, and some rather nice ones. A good basis to build a collection on of these very complex stamps!

Forgot about the second batch!

Top row: SG O76 £8.50; SG O80 10p; SG O71 £1.10; SG O72 £1
Second row: SG 91 (the stamp that I was talking about earlier) £3 (it's much better mint, I'm afraid); SG O72 again £1; SG O73a 40p

OK, Thomas here they are:

First row: First stamp - you'll need to check the perforations. If it's perf 13 all around, it SG 98a (£18); if it's perf 13x13½, it's SG 98ab (£4); second stamp SG 81 if it's perf 13 (10p) or SG O81b if it's perf 13x13½ (also 10p);
third stamp SG 119 (£5) - however, the postmark falls right over the first letter in the second Malayalam word. There is an error known in this letter. If it's the error, as in this stamp,

it's SG 119a (£35)
Fourth stamp: SG O82 (20p)
Second row: First stamp: SG 120 (£1.50); second and third stamps SG O100 (70p)

Good luck with your checking these stamps. I hope they turn out to be the good ones!

Hi tonymacg

Thanks for the response.
I checked the 1st in the 1st row. Perfomaster showed 13.1 X 12.9 so I think it is perf 13X13.
3rd stamp - I magnified and checked - there is no error in the word.
Thanks a lot for your feedback. Really appreciate it.

Meanwhile anybody planning to visit Indipex2011 ?... it is in Feb 2011 (12th to 18th) at Delhi.

Regards
Thomas

Thomas, to deal with the unoverprinted and unsurcharged stamps first,
2 Pies: depends on the perforation: perf 11 is SG 101c (60p), perf 13 is SG 101 (20p), and perf 11x13 is SG 101d (£140)
3 Pies: SG 102 (30p)
6 Pies: depends on the perforation: perf 11 is SG 104a (£6) and perf 13 is SG 104 (£7.50)
9 Pies: SG 105 (10p)
1 Anna: This is a fiscal/revenue cancellation - basically worthless
2 Annas: depends on the perforation: perf 11 is SG 107a (£7.50) and perf 13 is SG 107 (£8.50)
3 Annas: SG 108 (£1.75)
The Service (On C G S) overprinted stamps:
3 Pies: SG O84 (10p)
9 Pies: SG O87 (10p)
2 Annas: SG O90 (£3)
The two surcharges:
6 Pies: SG 122 (£16)
1 Anna: SG 123 ((£2.25)

Pity about the 1 Anna stamp. With a proper postal cancellation, it would have been worth £35. Still, you had a bit of luck with the SG 98a. That spelling error does sometimes slip past the dealers. I was lucky enough to buy this example

on ebay as the normal stamp. The normal is worth £2.75, but the error is £27 - and much scarcer still on cover.

Hi tonymacg

the 2 pies - interesting information about the perfs....
I have four of these - have to scan all now....
The one I have scanned is showing 11 X "cannot calculate" in perfomaster

Wish me luck
