GREENDRAGON --- Missed the post about removing hinges .....yes I not only remove any old hinges but also soak off any paper . If you ever see a small pencil line below a stamp on a page ,that means the stamp is a second quality ,like a thin or a crease and needs to be replaced . |

floortrader this means old gum gets washed off too? I am guilty of hinging over a hinge. |

Greendragon--- Gum is not that important on cheap stamps ,nobody at the stamp auction firms checks for it . Stamps over a catalog of $25.00 could be checked by bidders ,but clearly dealers don't waste their time .
Besides ,I believe the faking of gum placement has gotten so good most experts now pass on the opinion of gum ,even a experience collector can now fake out both collectors and most dealers. |

floortrader - I really like your pages for Syria and Ecuador that you posted today! The arrangements are excellent.
Overprints, like those Syria ones and the Paraguay ones you recently posted, make stamp collecting more challenging and interesting. |

Stampdragon -----Hard to say ,each country is different . It is safe to say all those countries have sub -collections . But it is safe to say "I will have a decent worldwide collection someday "
I could get into all kinds of stupid stuff here but I don't want to piss people off or get them upset with me .
UNHINGED ---Thanks for the positive note . I enjoy the hunt of getting and mounting unusual stamps or hard to get stuff {I stay away from high price gems },then mounting into albums . |

Going down the path that I chosen as a Worldwide Collector ,I end up collecting countries that none of the major collections have . Rarely does a major W.W. collection have ABU DHABI which started issueing stamps in 1964 . |

Trieste is one of those countries where it is hard to follow the catalog because you have to flip back to Italy to see the stamp . Flipping back and forth is a pain ,that is why you see catalog numbers written on these pages in my albums . |

Yes - that's why one of the beauties of the Maury catalogues is that they show all the stamps, rather than telling you to go back 500 pages! |

I ran into one collection where the owner wrote down the catalog number on the back of every stamp, even the duplicates! Floortrader, how many different stamps do you have now? |

Landoquakes ----- Have not done a recent count , due to other interest .
I did pick up at auction a few collections that will take time to sort and add to what I already have mounted .Trying to figure out how I want to do my pages for early Great Britain . I want to display those early plate numbers , the only way I am thinking is to make a seperate album page for each Scott number and number a square with a seperate plate number .At first I will have a lot of empty squares but then I can track what was printed and slowly fill in each square . . |
