It is puzzling to me that collector are paying $20.00 for a pack of hinges ,which comes to 2 cents each to mount a stamp they paid a penny for ,even a 5 cent stamp is not worth a 2 cent hinge .
But this has been the case for years when people use plastic mounts on used stamps that at not worth 2 cents each .
It drive me nuts when I view a collection for sale and there is loads of mounts on the album pages but everything in those mounts have all been previous hinged and some still have a piece of hinge on the back of the stamp. I guess the previous owner thinks the buyer don't check it . |

I also stocked up on hinges back when you could pick them up at a reasonable price. Have about 45 packs stored in a plastic box with desiccant packs to keep them nice and dry. Should last the rest of my life.... |

floor trader when you mount a stamp with a hinge, do you remove the old hinge first? I find that many people hinge over the old hinge |

I had not heard of Kelantan chef's hat (Sultan Ismail series) before seeing in this thread a couple weeks ago, and knew I had to add to my own collection especially after seeing there were spaces for the short set in Big Blue. Here they are! Yes putting VLH stamps in mounts, I didn't want to cause any more gum disturbance than necessary to these beauties. |

What do you do ? When your all busted-up and can't do Brazilian Jiu-jitsu for a few days due to injuries and need time to recovery . That is a good time to go into the weeds and go deep into your stamp collection . I believe that was what PHILIPP LA RENOTIERE VON FERRARY did when he couldn't fight with his life long interest in Boxing in France . So you go deeper into your stamp collecting interest . |

ATM stamps are a nice sideline to focus on, it is a shame that Scott STILL does not list these for any country other than the USA. Michel used to produce a global ATM stamp catalogue.. The Last edition was 2014. I have a copy in my library, wonderful reference. |
