Since Monday is President's Day and Wednesday is George Washington's Birthday, it's time to see some of the plentiful Washington Bicentennial covers from the 1932 Washington Bicentennial Issue of 1/2˘ - 10˘ stamps of various portraits of Washington. What is odd to me is the release day of the series being 1/1/32 instead of the bicentennial of his birthday on 2/22/32. Does anyone have any insight on that?

The 1, 1 1/2, and 2, 4, & 5 cent Washington Bicentennial envelopes were issued 1/1/1932 .
The 3 cent was issued 6/16/1932. This 3 cent was issued due to a rate increase.
Unfortunately there is no information in the UPSS catalog about why they were issued on January 1. 1932 was the last year in the 1930-1932 envelope contract.
