I don't know why people dislike revenue and handwritten cancels--I think they add nice flavor to any collection

Script Cancels.
I agree, but I feel times are changing, in a large part to forums like SCF.

Collectors can see the beautiful designs of the US counterparts,
and the associated catalogues ( a must to , increase any discipline)

Nothing is off the table these days, Telegraphs, Seals, Etiquettes,
even "Cinderellas" have flipped old Stanley Gibbons elitism, and they are marketing them as a valid and beautiful examples of the printer's art.

Inclusivity is a sign of the times today, not before time either.

They sure did.

In the Linfield and Davies book, 4.30 a.m. is stated to be the earliest time of cancellation in use in 1900. Subsequent to 1900, earlier morning times include 12 a.m., 1 a.m., 1.30 a.m, 2.15 a.m. and 4.00 a.m.

Linfield and Davies also include the research of Dr. Russell Jones on the frequency of times found on the Type 1 (thick arcs) and Type 2 (thin arcs) postmarks.

Of 3500 postmarks inspected by Dr. Jones, 4.30 a.m. was the most frequent time of cancellation, found on 42% of them. This next frequent was 5.45 a.m. which was found on 8% of the postmarks inspected.
