Hello again! I'm new, so am having trouble getting going! :) I'd like your input on this 1945 China Republic Air Stamp with Overprinted Bomb when Japanese Occupied China in 1945. Need more help please on how rare this might be or value? It's from my sister's photo album from the 60's and in great condition.
Unused, Hinged. How best would describe condition? I'm a total Stamp Novice!
Thanks so much! Hope the photo loads properly. :)

Your stamp is Scott Republic of China, Shanghai/Nanking 9N114 with a MNH cv of 45 cents. It was issued as air raid precaution propaganda in 1945.

Thanks so much for your reply.
But I'm a bit confused as to what "Scott" is? And the significance of Shanghai/Nanking? Also is cv Current Value? I'm guessing :) Just 45 cents?
Here is a link of a set on ebay that are similar. Are these the same stamps?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/402676114141

Also the link to this forum in 2019 with same question as mine. Sorry to be so dense! I'm just beginning to research stamps for my sister. I've seen some of these going for $800! So they must be mistaken? They do seem hard to find! I appreciate your help.

Scott is the "bible" of stamps, at least here in the USA

Scott refers to the Scott Postage Stamp Catalogue. Mostly used in the U.S. The CV stands for catalog value. Don't trust the sale prices you see on the internet. It's a very common stamp, hence the value is very little.

Tell me you're new to philately, without telling me you're new to philately.
"Scott": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_catalogue? There are a number of catalog publishers worldwide, from Scott and Yvert, to Michel, Sakura, and Stanley Gibbons, with a bunch in between. A collector's choice of catalog generally depends on where they live and the area they collect.

What a stamp is "going for" means nothing, especially important to remember in the case of someone new to the hobby. Philately can be very much about almost-microscopic details, where a specimen is worth ten cents, but the same issue with a mistake in color is worth many hundreds of dollars. Also, consider that the seller in question may just be trying to sell these for as much as possible, to an uneducated buyer.

By the way, a Scott Catalog Value (cv) is considered to be a very high and full retail value. In other words no one pays the full Scott value unless a stamp is exceptionally rare. Most common stamps regularly sell in the range of 5 percent to 20 percent of Scott catalog value depending on their desirability. There are some sellers on ebay who prey on unknowledgeable buyers by placing silly high starting prices on their things. You can get useful information from ebay auctions but only if you use the search filters to limit your results to "SOLD" items, but even with you need to be careful that unscrupulous ebay sellers sometimes bid on their own auctions to try to "establish" a record high price and then a few months later they sell try to auction that same item and claim that there is a record justifying their silly high price. Regarding your question about the condition of your stamp, that is an excellent question as condition is really essential to a stamps value and can bring it down dramatically even with very small problems. The front of your stamp looks to be in good condition, but collectors are equally concerned with the back of a stamp. Does it have all of its orginal gum, is there a remnant of a mounting hinge where it was mounted in an album, are there any thin spots in the paper where is was pried up from being stuck down, etc. etc. On a 45 cent stamp this is not a big deal as the going retail price for one in great condition is around 5 to 10 cents if you can even find a buyer.

The ebay link was a set of 4 which asking for $39.99.
It will not make one rich if a single one can sale for $10 (20 times of the Scott CV).

My thanks to all of you "Philatelists" Did I just make up a new word? :-)

I couldn't see how to reply individually, so hope all of you can see this.
So much to learn! So little Time! :) I defer to your expertise, and will "rehang" this in her album. Which I'm also considering listing. Our father traveled world wide for the Air Force in the 40's-60's, and she has about 1500 stamps in an Early Statement Deluxe Album from 1961. More research to do!
Some of these albums go for as little as $20. One seller is asking $999!
This album seems more scarce, so I may try listing it just for fun!

By the way, the price of $800 was in an Etsy Listing, included 2 stamps:

Nope, that word has been in use since 1864.

Probably the worst place to buy or sell stamps, or get an idea of what a stamp may be worth in the market. Really, the only kind of collectibles seller on Etsy IMO is either 1) a scammer, or 2) an ignoramus.

Glad I got SOMEthing right! :-) Thanks for the expert input from all of you! Happy Stamping!!
BTW
Any input on whether to list my sister's vintage album? ebay is my go-to source for "Sold" listings. This version does to seem much "rarer" than the later Albums. Pondering.....

1. I doubt that the album is vintage (printed before 1978?)

2. depending on how full the album is, whack it on ebay for say $25
and watch the response.

No one can accurately state the value.

The album is 1961-63. So yes, it is vintage. My sister has had it since then. Over 1200 Stamps in great condition sent by my father when he was in the Air Force from many many many countries! :-)
