I don't have a BW ACSC George V catalogue. I'm inclined to buy the 2022 version. Any reason why I shouldn't?

I don't need the absolute latest values. I wouldn't mind getting the latest information on the stamps themselves. If I can get that with a ten-year-old catalogue for twenty bucks, I'd do that.

My main goals are most of the info, in color. Thoughts on getting there?

Thanks for reading this far.

Tough call
I work from the 2007 (Black and white)

I also have the 2001 I could give you for free
but the postage would be more than $20

Why colour?

Why not? You still have a b&w television?

For my ancillary catalogues around the world, I've sort of used color as one of my criteria for updating. If I have a 2006 catalogue that is black and white, and I can buy a 2014 in color for cheap, I'll do it. If my 2006 is already color, and the 2014 is mostly just updates for values, I'm less interested.

My few core catalogues get updated every couple years. It's the ancillary stuff that is less essential. (I have quite a few specialist catalogues. Not as many as some of you, but quite a few.) With shipping, the new KGV will cost me around US$150. If you can point me to "just as good" in color for US$30, I'd be interested.

Thanks.

"You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear"

Opinion:
Given that I have not witnessed a KGV BW in colour, that part is my ignorance,
however
With KGV is see no advantage with colour
All colours are notated, it is then the experience / ability of the collector to ascertain just WHAT colour their stamp is.

No catalogue is going to offer that

Here are my colour swatches for the KGV
Try picking the Eosin Pink from your catalogue.

Notwithstanding, however, the gain you may get from updated information
with the latest Catalogue

By all means pay your $150

The couple older color BW KGVs I came across were not a steep discount, so at the moment, I'm thinking of going with a 2022. It should carry me for twenty years.

Here you go,
Any members with a colour KGV Catalogue?
What colour this one (with certificate)

Hint: Not even shown on my colour swatch image.
A new colour altogether.

(Variety "NY" joined)

I just returned from Australia and came back with the ACSC KGV 2022 catalogue. What a wealth of information, but, alas, no color charts, so I can't be of much help. If someone needs a particular page, please contact me through the system, and I may be able to help.

Regarding the "NY Joined", the catalogue offers only these options:

Carmine-Rose
Carmine-Red
Carmine (anil)

Not to say that it isn't NY joined, but it appears very "weak". I am comparing it with my 1p Violet, as shown:

Michael Drury Certificate
Albeit 2001, If the argument is that it is an old certificate
Then we can consider all catalogues "in flux" with circumspect reliability.
Your 2022 Catalogue may be out of date tomorrow.

As for "weak" that maybe true (scan is somewhat blurred)
However it is still important, it may show the gradual growth of the flaw.
