I am unfamiliar with the intricacies of US precanceled post cards. I've seen a few here and there, but this is the first one I have purchased.

Can someone provide any pertinent information about this card, precanceled cards in general, and where this card falls in the scarcity scale of such things.

Thank you, Jeff

Jeff

Your precancelled postal card is a beautiful piece of Iowa postal history. I would agree with the information in rogdcam's link, that this card is extremely rare and probably the only one like it to exist today.

Kalona, Iowa started as a small railroad town in an area of farms settled by the Amish Mennonite community. Today, the town is an Iowa tourist attraction because they saved most of the old town buildings and moved them into the Kalona Historical Village. Click the link below to see a current map of the village. The post office where your card was mailed is building #9 on the map...

The Kalona Historical Society could possibly give you more information about your card if you contact them. I am sure they would like to see it. Maybe they have one like it, maybe not. Contact info is in the link above.

Great find and thanks for sharing it with us.

Linus
