After having collected stamps for almost 60 years, I recently opened my Scott International album to try to decide where to concentrate my efforts. On the very first page is the country of Abyssinia, and I noticed what I initially thought was a stamp hinged upside down. Closer inspection determined that it actually was some type of error since the center picture was printed upside down.

Below is a picture of the stamp. Does anyone have any ideas about this stamp?

Yes, but mainly ideas and presumptions.

Common, printer's waste or rogues and ne'er do well's.

Fraud and tricksters abound in this hobby.

By the way, your scanner / iphone need a large colour correction.

Bela Szekula (also a stamp dealer) obtained the original printing plates and made private reprints (= forgeries) including the inverted centers and imperfs. The forgeries were also added to picture postcards with forged cancels.

The forgeries are fairly common.
