Here is the Aussie 1c Zebra Finch with SPECIMEN overprint by Anpex 82. Not sure why they did the 'blackout' job on the one on the left hand side. Cheers Ron. |

Interesting, Ron. Queensland certainly got their mileage from that typeset. I have similar sheets, (purchased from Mr. Rusty Toning) one has Int Stamp week 1981 ! That tiny blip RHS centre reads "facsimile" Not Specimens but of the same family. |

Austria Telegraph Not listed in Forbin. Lovely engraved examples of Franz Joseph 1st. Includes the lightning arrow icons of the Telegraph, and a curious blend of the icon for Commerce, the Caduceus blending into an Anchor. |

Go out to work, Kirk. you'll need the money to buy stamps. (..speaking from experience, I spend too much time in this lounge)

Kirk is probably at work, like me. I have two monitors here for a reason. |

Perish the thought! I would never think about stamps while in the office |

Beautiful telegraphs, Rod. Since they are engraved, I believe they are from the series of 1874-76. (1873s are litho, with two types of value tablets...the stamps in the later series are all Type I tablets matching yours.)
The series of 1874-76 was found as perf 9x10.5, and also as 12x13.
The values are 5k, 20k, 25k, 40k, 50k, 60k, 1f and 2f. |

Thanks Collin, I had absolutely no reference on these, so your comments are most welcomed.
Stamp issuing countries are curious sometimes in their behaviour. Why issue beautifully engraved stamps, when lithographed issues preceded them. That is odd.

Particularly tasty morsel you have there Collin. This is a type "A" diadem on Her Maj The original die in all its glory. Future images of the Queen with differing diadems used this die, the diadem was blocked with another lump of metal, and the new design/diadem engraved A piece of brilliance from the engraver Joubert. BTW be careful with the selvedge, the ink looks fugitive? Does the "SI" at the beginning of SPECIMEN look odd to you |

My favourites, distributed from New South Wales to the UPU: These were the stamps from Tasmania for the UPU (note the different font and vertical format of the overprint): The stamps sent to the UPU from Western Australia were not overprinted specimen but had a particular four ring cancel: |

Apologies for the condition, it is the first time I ran across this particular stamp, so I forgave the obvious concerns... Saggio=specimen, more or less. |
