Good evening to all! As I spend a lot of time reading through different threads on this forum, I often notice that a lot of members are using Steiner pages? What exactly is the deal with these pages? What am I missing that I should know! Thanks for the insight!

Nathalie

They are self printed pages ,you can buy a CD disk for around $50.00 and print all the pages you want from your own computer at home , I print about 2 ,000 pages a year to fit a three ring binder . It has pages design to follow the Scott's worldwide catalog .

I buy my own Album paper and print the countries that I am focused on and mount and place in a three ring binder. This gives me flexibility and is less expensive than buying other albums such as Scott Specialty (which I only have one - Mexico)

Hi Nathalie,
William Steiner's pages, are a matter of personal preference, some like them, others prefer other routes, making their own etc.

Further to Floortrader's precis, here is my route with Steiner, based on
my Computer set up for at least 400 countries.

Basic Album pages folder ASFEC is "Stampsmarters" "A Stamp from every country" link
"Spines" was my own templates, for Album spines, but now use a "label maker"

Next is Steiner's "Blanks" pages for "sundry stamps, cinderellas or what have you" Constant templates, same borders but options to fill in own headings

Next is Steiner's "Classics" album pages for stamps (I think) up to 1940

Next is "worldwide" Album Pages for every country worldwide in *.pdf form

You can see mine was purchased years ago, and only go to 2011

I have permission to send a copy for consideration to friends
If you would like a representative pdf for any particular country
I can email you a pdf, (after you have 50 posts)

Page Numeration can be tricky, Say Canada 1940
The pages will be numbered say 1-120 covering stamps, semi postals, war stamps etc to 1940

The 1960 pdf begins at 1941 and begins again at number 1

Rod, the Steiner Classic Pages carry the British Commonwealth to 1952.

Yes, exactly. And the fact that Steiner follows the Scott Classic 1840-1940 Catalogue, which also carries to 1952 for BC issues.

Accession 6 February 1952. The start of the reign during which the Empire, largely, was dissolved.

Thanks to all of you who contributed to an insightful answer! I'm learning so much!

Rodney, your answer was so detailed, thank you for your time!! I will accept your offer and would love to try some pages. Do you have any recent Canada? That being said, are these pages updated yearly?

And now, another question! What is a sundry stamp? I did google it and didn't find anything unless it's a typo. Again, my apologies to the membership for my questions, English is not my first language and I can't associate a sundry stamp with anything I know in French.

Hi Nathalie,

Various, several, (a collection of mixed stamps with one general theme or country) a "potpourri"

TIP.
Left click your mouse, and drag across the word (it turns blue)
Right click and up pops "Search Google for Sundry"

Do that for any word you would like to know.

Updates ? Sorry, no idea Alie, you may wish to contact Mr. Steiner.
it would be a mammoth task to do all countries yearly, so I would assume
"when as needed"

I'll email you from SCF for a suitable email address, so I can send you the file
Latest Canada I have is 2015

It makes sense. That's why I asked the question. I can only imagine the type of work it would be to keep all these countries/entities updated!

Thank you Rodney for sending a sample set of pages!

Just to make sure that I understood correctly: when you buy the pages from Mr. Steiner, do you buy a format that allows you to modify the pages? Or do you only buy a PDF format?

Let say I only collect individual stamps and no souvenir sheets. Can I erase the boxes for SS on Steiner pages? Or again, is it a set-in-stone PDF format?

Merci! Nathalie

Hi Alie,
Short answer no, Mr. Steiner disapproves.
Collectors do do it, I leave it to the individual's ethics.

To wit.
Paraphrased
"You may not modify this file, and you may not charge any fee for it, or use it in any commercial activity without my specific permission"

There is a member here that produces "Album Easy" to make their own pages, perhaps try that route? (Free I believe)

Cheers.
