Will Australia Post release a coronation stamp(s) of King Charles III as was the case with the coronations of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II?

Hi rogdcam
I know that England and a few smaller Commonwealth countries have issued KCIII coronation stamps and coinage, but what I was referring to, will Australia be issuing such stamps as Australia Post and the Federal Government at the moment have not released any media information of any intention of doing so. |

You'd think that the window would have to be closing. If there are no announcements to date, it seems unlikely? |

Hi Cjd
When KGVI was crowned on May 12, 1937, Australia did not issue a coronation stamp (5/- and 10/-) until April 1, 1938 (eleven months after the event. The £1 stamp was not issued until November 1, 1938, one year and eight months after the coronation. QEII was crowned on May 2, 1953, her stamps were issued on May 25, 1953, 22 days after the event. So it's a guessing game whether or not coronation stamps will be issued, and if so, when. And seeing that our PM is a staunch republican and wants Australia to cut ties with England, we may or may not have such stamps.

Rob041256: Someone needs to remind your PM that Australia is much closer to China geographically than it is to both the UK and America. This might not be the best time to "twist the Lion's tail" so to speak. Given the current state of affairs in SE Asia, he might need the support in the years to come. |

Am I missing something?
Unless New Delhi or Tel Aviv is in Australia, that article does not show in anyway Australia, geographically, is further from China than from the USA or the UK.
In fact, unless Tel Aviv is a negative 100 kilometres from anywhere in the UK, Sydney is at least closer to Shanghai than to London. |

I know this is a bit off Australian topic line but it fits in regards to the subject matter. Well they are now available in Sydney, across the pond. Just a matter of time before the other commonwealth countries have his image or silhouette on their stamps too. Ironic that after making up the cover I realize the address of road fits in the theme. Image of booklet just realeased today with selfmade FDC. Edit: proper FDC shown below. I have to admit I made a mistake and posted wrong cover below. It was made up as a prank I wanted to play on someone else and ended up pranking myself by posting here on forum. Appoligies for messing up the post .I am human after all as the song goes. And below is another FDC I had cancelled at Membertou First Nation Reserve. |

Not a bad effort from our friends to the north.
I understand the timing of prior Australian coronation efforts, but those were different days. The public isn't going to react with their pocketbooks to coronation stamps issued next year. I could be wrong. |

It's worth remembering that the high face value stamps from Australia shown above were NOT issued for the Coronation.
They are known as the "robes" issue. Australia did not issue any stamps for the coronation. You'll note there is no mention of Australia in the omnibus list in the Gibbons catalogue for this event. |

Celebrating 646 years after the event. You might want to fix the lower left! |

Nice catch fairdinkumstamps!
Either that or it is the wrong stamp. Did they have stamps in 1377? |

The Canadian stamp is a decent design, but rather funereal - a brighter colour would have been more appropriate. |

Yes, I messed up as I reposted and corrected my last post. I spotted mistake an hour later when I got home and did not have a chance to correct it before anyone caught it. I only get access remotley away from home so now it is corrected, but did get a chuckle from comments. |

Hi Bobby De La Rue They are known as the Coronation Robes, printed specifically for the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. The use of the word "Robes" is just a shortened way of identifying the set. Even I call them the "Robes", but in reality they are actually called the Coronation Robes as shown in the ACSC (Australian Commonwealth Specialists' Catalogue). |
