Hi everyone

This is a used 1873 (and not the 1870)with perforation 11 1/2 x 12 correct? Stamp world says it's worth about 30 usd. I did my due diligence first so hoping someone can confirm!

We can't measure the perf rate from here. What did you get?

PS: The heavy crease and poor centering will impact it's value substantially. Catalog values are usually for VF fault free stamps.

Can't you compare the image to one of your stamps with a known perforation rate and estimate its perf rate?

From my own measurement, Hor. and Vert. are the same perf. If you open picture in MS Paint, distance between 10 horizontal perforation tips is about 565 pixels, and vertical is 568 so relatively the same. Probably a 12 x 12, worth about 1$ as Fine. Poor centering and fold/crease lowers its value significantly.

Here is a simple tool I use to measure perf, from an image.
If you scan your stamp at 600 dpi, measure the Hor. and Vert. distances in "dots" between 11 peaks (that is equal to10 perf)
The perf is calculated by the simple formula:
perf=(# of perf tips/distance in dots)*472.44
For example, if distance for 10 perf is 395 dots, the perf is 11.96
Tips 10
Dots 395
perf 11.96
perf=(10/395)*472.44 = 11.96

The same principle applies for different scan resolutions. For 1200 dpi, the multiplying factor is 944.88 instead of 472.44 and for 2400 dpi resolution, the factor becomes 1889.76

Hope this helps.
