It is a fake. This seller sells fake overprinted stamps exclusively. Did you wonder why you paid pennies on the dollar for a multi-thousand-dollar stamp? |

I thought I was getting a lucky break. I guess not. Thank you for letting me know. P.T. Barnum was right. There is a sucker born every minute, and I"m that sucker.. |

That seller is now why I will never buy one of these without it having a certificate. He has flooded the market with these.
Go look at the seller's "completed history and see the large quantity he has moved. |

Or you can buy the same stamp except 3 cents with the inverted Shanghai overprint but the same fake cancel from his alter ego, at least a different seller name of maxfan1985. |

I'd send them all in for certificates southpaw. It is getting to the point where a good cert is needed to sell one of these at close to its proper price. Me? I know much about Parcel Post and Parcel Post Postage Due but I will not offer an opinion on any of these Darrah overprints and will only buy them with a certificate should I actually want one. My preference would be on cover examples, which while expensive fit best with my postal history interest in PP/PPPD stamps. |

See: https://goscf.com/t/82385&SearchTerms=lot,233 for more information on Darrah Shanghai overprints. The part 2 Magnolia lot 298 (your link revcollector), the wrapper was nice but does not rate. Parcel Post was 12 cents per pound so at 75 cents it is over paid by 3 cents. If the blue numbers indicate registration, 75 less 10 cents leave 65 which is 1 cent overpaid at 2 cents per ounce first class. Perhaps it will avail itself to me at a later date. What I needed was lot 233 in part 4 Sale 1271 showing return postage on a mass of parcel post being return to Shanghai as refused by the mainland recipient. It however does not involve Darrah stamps. It can be found here: https://goscf.com/t/82687Edited for link. |

Thank you for the comments and links. Unfortunately nothing new from when I did my original Google queries a couple of months ago. I only have a short-wave UV, and nothing "lit up". This afternoon I sent off a number of them to the PF. Fingers crossed.
